In Summer 2008 my family and I needed a mortgage loan. Citifinancial gave us a $296, 000 loan at an 11.9 interest rate. The monthly payment which is ridiculous is $3,005.03. We needed the money, so the loan officer lip-promised that if we made the payments on time for a year, the bank will lower the interest. So we did.

After a year I went to the bank to apply for a lower interest and they told me they weren't giving any mortgage loans. I literary went to every bank in Puerto Rico and they made it seem possible until I gave them the appraisal money. Immediately after I gave them my money, the stopped calling or giving me further info. Among these banks were: Popular, Oriental Group, BBVA, Doral, RG and many others. Each appraisal was approximetly $600 and I went to more or less 13 banks.

Another year went by and I wrote a letter to Citifinancial explaining the situation and I didn't get an answer. Then i wrore 4 certified letters to Citifinancial explaining that soon I wouldn't be able to make such high payments. I just stopped paying for one month and then the calls started coming telling me they were going to help me.

I went to the bank and they asked me to write on paper the reasons why I couldn't make my payments and a list of my debts. I wrote for almost 45 minutes and then they told me that the preliminary numbers said they could only lower $200 from the monthly payment. I told them that didn't help me at all and they insisted that if I paid the owed month they would help me. I told them that they were going to leave a family of nine people out on the street and I refused to pay. The week after they called me telling me they preapproved the monthly payment for $1,7420. I was so happy, I went to the bank and asked them what proof do I have that this is going to happen and they told me that I had to pay this amount for three months, in the meantime they will arrange the papers so they payment couldf become steady. But, they asked me for the late month. Everything was peaches and cream after I paid them the month".

The week after the call me telling me the trial payment for three months was going to be $2,352 which was what the champ program approved and that they lower the years of the mortgage from 360 to 143/. I started to cry and told them why do they lie to people, it's not fair, in two years I have paid them $80,000 and now they think they are doing me a favor when in 15 years I will end up paying them half million dollars?. I am surprised how human beings could be so cruel:. The officer working the case told me that if I didn't agree I should go to another bank and that this amount is what Obama and his law allows her to do for me'. She also said that Obama and his stability plan didn't care if I had tons of debt, they only care about what I earn without taking into consideration the government cuts I might have in my paycheck;.

So, my advice to you is, live paying rent, because being a homeowner just makes this people more powerful and cruel:. The idea of owning a home is to leave something for your children, so open an account or buy a life insurance so they can inherit cash when you die and forget about the rest". I hope God's law punishes these horrifying deeds. 128f299
