My brother had taken a loan out with One Main Financial, former Citifinancial. He payed for insurance to be sure that if he died, the loan would be paid for.

He passed away and One Main Financial in Morehead,Ky called me and informed me that he had made me his beneficiary.I had never heard of One Main Financial until then.

They told me they needed his death certificate so they could get everything taken care of.They could not get their money from the insurance company until they sent them the death certificate.

I told them I would get it to them as soon as I got one.

Finally,it came and I sent it out that day and I called to let them know it was in the mail.

Nearly a month went by and I recieved a letter from the American Health and Life Insurance Company informing me that a check has been issued to me and that they sent it to One Main Financial,so they could mail it to me.

That made no sense to me.Why didn't the insurace company just mail it to me to begin with?

I had no Idea that I was suppose to get any money from them.

Well,I gave One Main Financial over a week to send the check to me and when I didn't hear from them,I called them about the check.

Well, the woman said she was sending it out that very day by UPS.

She also informed me that my loved one still owed them money

(Even though the insurance payed off his loan)

She began adding up late fees and interest while on the phone with me.

I said;"You mean your charging interest on a dead man?"

She never said a word.

By the time she got done,(according to her),he ended up owing them nearly all of what the beneficiary check was.

She went on to tell me when I get the check to cash it and then write a check made out to One Main Financial and mail it to them.

Well,I talked to my lawyer about it,because I was smelling dead rats and he told me I didn't have to give them anything because I didn't cosign for him to get the loan.

I didn't know he had a loan,I didn't know his buisness,period.He lived in Ky,I do not.

Anyway,I kept waiting for the check to come,in which it didn't.

I called the UPS and they asked me if she gave me the tracking number and I said no.They told me to call her and get it and to tell her to call them, because I had not recieved the check.

I called and she gave me the tracking number and she also told me that she would call them.

I got on the UPS website and used the tracking number and it had been scanned on the 18th of last month and was out for delivery to me the next day.

Well, then when it didn't come,I called the UPS about it but they could not do anything until she called them.

Rememeber, she told me that she would call them.

I told the guy on the phone that I had called her and told her to call. Then I asked the man if there was anyway that she could have rescheduled the shipment, because it said on the tracking that it had been rescheduled.

It was on the truck, out for delivery, then rescheduled.

That's when he called her.

Then the tracking showed that the package was lost and a claim had been filed by One Main Financial.

I called One Main Financial and asked where that left me as far as the check goes. She accused me of being the one that asked to file a claim.

Hello! I was not the sender, she was.

She insured that check.

Does anyone smell a dead rat?

I sure do.

So I called the insurance company, found out that that check had been issued to me on the 4th of last month and that woman didn't send it out until the 18th.

To this day,the last place the package(check) was last seen is in a town that is less than 50 miles away from me.

I also did some research on the insurance company and found out that it is a subsidiary of One Main Financial. In other words,One Main Financial is over them.

I doubt I will ever see that check.

She told me that it would be 18 day's before the insurance could issue me another check.

Yet,the insurance company told me that they could issue another one, one month after the first check was issued.Which was on the 4th of Oct.

It's bad enough losing a loved one,but to have to go through so much afterwards by a greedy heartless company is heartwrenching.

When I had recieved the letter about the check,I called my loved ones only son to tell him he would be getting the money from that check.

Now,I fear he won't get it.

I don't trust that company as far as I could throw them.

If they had mailed that check to me it would have only taken a couple of day's,they are only 4 hrs away from me.Had they mailed it through the USPS,they would have had no control over the check.

Is it possible that the check wasn't in that package and that they rescheduled or changed the shipping address to someone they know so they could get insurance money from UPS?

I do know if you are a registered member on the UPS site,a sender can change the location to where they want it shipped.

I have kept my lawyer informed on all of this and he has everything drawn up to file suit against them if I do not recieve the beneficiary check.

And after all they have put me through over this ordeal, the lawsuit will be for more that what the check is worth.

I am not a well person and I have literally gotten sick over this.

Using a dead man to make money.

Some day,it will come home to people like that.

Location: Troy, Michigan

I bought one of these insurance policies that is supposed to make payments in case of financial hardship. My husband lost a HAND.

Needless to say having a job loss in my mind was a hardship...I found out they basically sold me a 600 dollar policy that is totally useless...they are predators and I will NEVER do any business with them again. I also advise anyone who will listen to EXPLORE OTHER ROUTES!!!!!!!!

Hey Brian, you seem to like defending these *** bags . Question for you what is a "forgiveness" payment/amount.

My monthly payments are being divided into two one part according to them is a forgiveness payment they claim they allowed me to not pay this amount yet both payments add up to the total of the payments I'm making, and these so call forgiveness payments are being added to the interest as well. Have you heard of these?

Update;

The insurance company issued another check to me and it finally came.

The money went to his only child, who deserved it.

I have no respect for any company that would keep charging a dead person and put his loved one through so much.

One Main Fiunancial is nothing but a loan shark company.

They take advantage of people who otherwise could not get a loan from a REAL bank.

Even the severely mentally ill, which my loved on was.

One would think they would check up on things like that before they go handing money out so easily.

Well,I guess they got their money from the UPS insurance and are happy now.

They are dirty dogs.Wolves in sheeps clothing.

I pray no one else has to go through what they put me through.

Cold,cold,cold.

The ins policy is paid to one main to pay the loan off. If there is any money left (usually very little) then the beneficiary gets a check.

Also depends if customer had ever done any deferments or was past due. The ins does not cover deferments or late charges.

The main point is the ins check goes to one main to pay loan off first then any money that may be left will go to beneficiary. Usually on personal loans it is none and just pays the loan off!
